Dental Bridges
A dental bridge can fill the gap with artificial teeth if you have one or more missing teeth. This treatment is typically made of crowns on either side of the missing teeth, supporting the false tooth as it is cemented.
At Highline Dental Practice, our well-experienced prosthodontists will design dental bridges that will fill the gap of missing teeth, leaving your mouth full of healthy and strong chompers.
Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Dental Bridge?
Why Is A Dental Bridge Required?
- Chewing difficulties
- Bite Problems
- Pain from the extra stress on your jaws
- self-consciousness about your looks and smile
What does a dental bridge look like?
- Abutment Teeth: Our prosthodontists will place two crowns on either side of the gap. These teeth are the anchoring teeth or the supporting teeth.
- Pontics: This false tooth fills the gap and attaches to the crowns.
What are the types of Dental bridges available at Highline dental practice?
- Traditional Fixed Bridge: The most common type of dental bridge. It has two or more crowns and filler teeth that are all connected. The crowns keep the bridge in place. Traditional bridges are made of metal or porcelain fused with metal or ceramic.
- Cantilever Bridge: Here, the false tooth (pontic tooth) connects to only one abutment tooth. It is an option for patients with teeth on only one side of the gap.
- Maryland Dental Bridge: This resin-bonded bridge is used when the patient has missing front teeth. It is made of porcelain fused with metal or ceramic teeth supported by a framework. Wings on each side of the bridge bond to the existing teeth.
- Implant-Supported Bridge: This bridge is similar to a traditional fixed bridge but is held in place by implants instead of cement.

FAQ
1. How much does a dental bridge cost without insurance
Dental bridges typically cost between $1,500 and $5,000 without insurance on average. The quality of the adjacent teeth and the bridge’s material will affect the cost.
2. How long does a dental bridge last
Dental bridges should be changed every 5 to 7 years, although the University of Rochester Medical Center reports that with the proper maintenance, they can last up to 10 years.
3. How long does it take for a dental bridge to settle
A dental bridge is new to your mouth, therefore it may take two weeks for you to become used to it completely. The fixed bridge will thereafter feel as comfortable and natural as your teeth. If your bridge still feels uneasy or sloppy, the dentist could not have installed it correctly.
4. Are dental bridges permanent
Depending on how well it is taken care of, a dental bridge could need to be updated every 5 to 15 years, whereas implants are thought of as a permanent option. Dental hygiene is one factor that can shorten the lifespan of all bridge types, including implants.
5. How to clean under a dental bridge
Because the bridges are connected, floss cannot flow between the tooth units within the bridge from the top (occlusal surface). As a result, you can’t floss between the bridge with normal floss. Continue cleaning beneath the bridge using a super floss, floss threader, or interdental brush.
