Eating should also be avoided for the first few hours. If you want to really eat something then it has to be softer foods such as mashed potatoes, pudding or yoghurt that do not require any chewing at all.
You may feel minor soreness in the injected area and there can little irritation too. It can be resolved with over-the-counter medicines and a warm salt-water rinse.
Sensitive Teeth Care Post Veneers
The teeth may get a little hypersensitive due to the fact that a thin layer of enamel I scraped that makes the tooth layer sensitive. The sensitivity improves over time naturally but to sail through this phase, you can use sensitive toothpaste. The job of the sensitive toothpaste is to desensitize and seal the sensitivity causing nerve endings in the porous surface of the teeth that are microscopic.
The other precaution to follow during the sensitivity stage is to avoid the consumption of extremely cold foods.
Food Consumption Post Veneers
Avoid crunchy, hard and sticky foods with veneers. Porcelain veneers are placed strongly but extremely sticky foods can affect the dental work performed on the damaged tooth.
Using veneers for opening packages, biting nails or holding things in the mouth is completely restricted since these things may accidentally chip out the veneers. The chipped-out veneer cannot be patched and they have to be replaced completely. Dark-colored foods such as sauces and curry can also discolor the veneers so it is better to avoid most dark-colored foods.
The dark colored liquids such as wine and tea can also cause stains on the veneers. On consumption of these liquids make sure to rinse your mouth completely with water. This helps in reducing the stains on the veneers and also limits the exposure of veneers to the acidic content in those colored drinks.
Flossing with Veneers
It is important to do flossing every day since it avoids the formation of plaque and also gives no space for dental infections.
Use of Nightguard
Investing in a nightguard is very beneficial since it helps people who have the habit of teeth grinding or clenching. These habits cause tension between upper and lower teeth that may damage the veneers too.
